Neurologist

A neurologist is a medical doctor who specializes in diagnosing, treating and managing disorders of the nervous system, which includes the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves. They handle a wide range of neurological conditions such as epilepsy, stroke, migraines, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease and neuropathies. Neurologists use various tools like neurological exams, imaging tests (such as MRI or CT scans) and electrodiagnostic tests (like EEG or EMG) to assess a patient's condition. While they do not perform surgery, they often work closely with neurosurgeons and other specialists to provide comprehensive care.
